word choice - Is there any difference between balance with and balance against?

I am currently writing a text, in which the following sentence occurred: Sharing data between different institutions that do medical research is of great general interest. [...] However, this needs to be balanced with the respect of the patient's privacy. When reading it over the next day, it looks wrong. I considered replacing balanced with by balanced against. I'm not really sure. And of course the more I read it the more it looks weird, I need fresh eyes. Thanks!

EDIT: forgot to mention, I first considered balanced by but it souded even weirder.
